My Thanks-giving

O give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever. ~Psalm 107:1

This week we celebrate Thanksgiving, we gather together in families and friend groups to break bread, to laugh, to share a meal, and to give thanks.

This year I have so much to be thankful for.

Right now I am thankful to know that as this blog is posted, I will actually be on vacation, spending much needed time with family and friends, and getting to rest my own spirit after a busy few months. I am thankful for the freedom I have to do this, and thankful that I can write this blog post ahead of time.

I am thankful for the welcoming care Bethany Lutheran has given me these last few months. It’s often daunting to start a new job, but even more so when that new job is the pastor of a congregation, and the members and friends of Bethany have made this transition smooth, you all have made it easy, you have made it exciting and full of joy, and I am so thankful for that.

I am also so thankful for the new life growing in my own family. My husband and I didn’t think we could have children naturally, we had the better part of our short marriage hoping and grieving, and looking towards the different possibilities for family ahead of us. Today I am thankful for the love and support of all of the women and couples I know who have struggled as we struggled with infertility, your words of comfort and your excitement with me in discovering our little miracle is truly amazing.

As I look towards Thanksgiving, all I can think is that I give thanks to the Lord, for God is good, and his steadfast love is enduring in my life in so many incredible ways, I can’t wait to wonder what I will be thankful for next year.

What are you thankful for? How are you seeing God’s goodness in your life this holiday season?

I am thankful for your leadership, in our church, and I am thankful, for your enthusiasm, and continued energy to get the people of this church to unite in praise and prayer.
