A New Thing

See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
and streams in the wasteland.

~Isaiah 43:19 NIV

Ministry isn’t exactly new to me, but as I move into my second week at Bethany, all I can think about is how exciting it is to be in a new place, to meet new people, and to experience God in new ways here.

I was involved in my home congregation before beginning seminary, and while taking classes for my degree I experienced ministry in many different churches with many different titles. I was a children’s minister. A student pastor. An intern pastor. But for the last two weeks, I have been the pastor at Bethany Lutheran, and that is honestly amazing.

See, God is doing a new thing through me, using me and my crazy hair to speak love and truth to God’s people. And God is doing incredible new things in the people of Bethany, and maybe it’s in ways that we can’t perceive yet, but I’m so excited.

So for the first blog post, let’s keep it simple: I am so thankful to God and the community at Bethany Lutheran for calling me to this place, to these people. And I can’t wait to see what new thing God is going to do here.
