“Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel, which means ‘God is with us.” ~ Matthew 1:23
IT’S ADVENT!!!!!!
Advent Excitement
Have I mentioned before how much I love Advent? I have….well, I’m excited! This is the season in our church when we prepare, when we wait, when we get excited for the birth of Jesus.
And there is so much to be excited about! God with us, Jesus!
Okay, I know I’m excited, and I hope you are too. As we look towards Christmas and celebration, our church is filled with celebration and joy this month.
Fellowship
On December 1st we celebrate 57 years as a congregation with our annual Smorgasbord with delicious food and the voices of the Castle Rock Men’s Choir. December 21st we celebrate the season with Katie’s Night (formerly Beer & Carols) at The Carriage Restaurant for dinner, drinks, and all the Christmas carols we can sing before our voices give out.
Planning
We have our quarterly visioning potluck December 11th as we draft our updated mission and vision statements. I’m so excited to hear from our members the gifts God has shared with us and how we might look towards God’s vision of our future.
Worship & Celebration
Our kiddos have begun preparing our annual Christmas Pageant for Sunday December 15th. Readings, songs, and a very cute play starring our Small Seeds & Sprouts. Here’s a hint: it will be “heavenly”!
And then of course we have Christmas Eve and Christmas Day! We’ll be celebrating Jesus’s birth Christmas Eve at 5pm with our Candlelight service with children’s message and again Christmas Day at 9:30am in our Celebration Worship.
Maybe it’s because this year my own daughter is getting excited for this season. Starting in September she would inform me, “It’s not Christmastime yet.” And that’s still true, but it is Advent—a time where we anticipate and excitedly wait for Christmas. I hope you’ll join us in our excitement as we prepare!
